Quote from the latest Economy Klaus blog post link :
http://firstlatewestern.blogspot.com/2008/04/trouble-with-queuing.html

Quote from: Economy Klaus
"Will you be travelling out after 9.25am?"

"I will...but my wife won't. She'll be catching a different train at Melksham, then leaping from the roof of her carriage onto the roof of mine at Swindon like in Von Ryan's Express...as long as her arthritis isn't giving her gip...in which case we'll need someone to meet her on the platform and carry her in a fireman's lift to the toilet and back again..."

I got stuck behind an elderly lady at Newton Abbot who, when asked to enter her PIN kept on entering the price of the ticket which promptly messed the card reader up  Cheesy Well over 20 mins.

From the EK (Economy Klaus (web log)) blog comments section :

Quote from: Topham Hatt
Next time, you ought to gently remind the elderly people that they can now travel from one end of the country to the other for nothing, using their free bus passes.

That should get them out of the train station.

Yes, I'm quite fond of the dear old pensioners as well, but ...!

I rather liked vacman's earlier version of that particular scenario (as you can tell!): http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=1877.msg13831#msg13831  Wink Cheesy Grin

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
