From a discussion that started at a TWSW» (TravelWatch SouthWest - website) meeting I attended today ... what facilities (if any?) are needed at places that National Express, Megabus, Berrys, Snap, Falcon and others call.

Here is the stop for the London service from Melksham (population around 25,000) ...



Should we have ...
- a compete sign
- a timetable
- connecting town buses at the same stop
- sheltering and/or wider pavements for people to wait
- road markings "bus stop" or "coach stop"
- CCTV▸ (Closed Circuit Tele-Vision)
- public conveniences
- a map of the town with a "you are here" and directions to other bus stops and taxis
- cafe, ticket  machine, ...

Some very silly ideas for a daily service, I appreciate - but for long distance coaches is ticket price "everything" and nothing more than a "bus stops here" plate is needed, or do we need more?

For completeness, here is the sign where the coach arrives.  Again, roadside, quite narrow pavement ...

Let's add ... raised kerb to help wheelchair passengers leave and join the coaches.
