Well, having got the previous one (despite not being an S&T▸ professional), can I say that I clearly know more about The North than about GWR▸ -land. I know where this is, but I'll leave it for others.

Heighington was where Locomotion No1 was placed on the rails. The original station is just to the south of the level crossing. You can just make out the very low platform on Street View. The current station dates from WWII▸ .

I have had some ... very ... long days or is that daze? Thanks for picking those up. And here I am today ... final 2+8 HST▸ excursion and I'm back in time too with 120 people (estimate) on a 153, with conductor requesting people to move up, then a wheelchair has to be loaded at an intermediate station ...

I'm intrigued by the distinction between red wine and alcohol in the first Darlington picture. Does this imply that red wine is not considered real alcohol or that the people of Darlo drink so much red wine it deserves its own separate category?

I dispair that there is one half rack of food, one half rack of soft drinks, and two complete racks of alcohol. And I ended up having quite an interesting chat with one of Northern Rail's army of security contractors ... telling me all about the alcohol hotspots, dry trains and how they transfer the awkward squad to other trains that are not dry including how the particular train came to be dry in the first place. Wonderful how a smile and a friendly comment can break the ice with even the most daunting looking individual.
