Oxford will be home to 72 new bus shelters by next spring in a five-year scheme to update the city's bus stops (link below.)
http://www.oxfordmail.net/news/headlines/display.var.2003073.0.new_bus_shelters_ahead.php

The first will be installed in Blackbird Leys by the end of March, and more than 180 will go up across the city by spring 2013.

The project comes after Oxford City Council agreed a funding deal with outdoor advertisers Clear Channel UK (United Kingdom).

They will be able to carry real-time information boards for bus travellers, should Oxfordshire County Council (before you say it, I spotted that as well, only quoting the article...) wish to install the technology at a later date.

I noticed the other day (might be of use to someone) that the X5 - Oxford-Cambridge no longer serves the station!

Its of use to me....

Jacobs gave the following justification for recommending the withdrawal of the Oxford-Bicester rail service :

Quote
On the basis that a bus operation is available with similar or better generalised journey time, it is assessed that this service could be withdrawn without significant economic disbenefits. Significant cost savings would be secured.

The first of 180 new bus shelters planned for Oxford has been given the thumbs up by passengers (link below.)
http://www.oxfordmail.net/display.var.2104064.0.first_new_bus_shelter_is_unveiled.php

People waiting at the new bus stop, in Blackbird Leys Road, were unanimous in their praise for the shelter, which offers protection from the wind and rain in a traditional Oxford blue colour.

The new construction was unveiled on Friday, and replaced an old shelter that had been removed two years ago because of vandalism.
