Here comes another "all on" week! Returning literature stock to sort out from the various Swindon events from last Thursday and Friday, and distribute to regular summer-long outlets. Briefing a politician on Tuesday evening, our TransWilts Stakeholder conference in Trowbridge on Wednesday, and the TravelWatch SouthWest Cross Country consultation meeting on Friday. Saturday is an unknown - I might be at the RailFuture conference in Carlisle, but a week ahead is a long time in my life at present!
A belated update after a very busy week indeed ... an excellent Stakeholder meeting in Trowbridge, an excellent run through of the
XC▸ franchise with around 40 user groups on Friday, and a very interesting RailFuture meeting in Carlisle on Saturday - I have documented elements of the Carlisle city experience in a separate thread; the morning talks on the Settle and Carlisle / the Eden bank collapse and the works and return of service, on the campaign to complete the reservation of the Waverley route, and on electrification plans for the and across the Penines were interesting. The afternoon was a seminar / workshop on more effective campaigning, ably lead by Stewart Palmer, former MD of South West Trains. So much good material and advise in what he said (I have asked for a copy of his slides) and from the audience. Much of it common sense, but common sense is one of those things that is missed sometimes until people point things out to you.
