It's warm but not excessively so. However: Alterations to services between Charlbury and Evesham Due to a speed restriction because of high track temperatures between Charlbury and Evesham trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines. Train services running through these stations may be delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day. There's been delays throughout the day and similarly yesterday, some in excess of twenty minutes. That said, I've no idea how many are actually been affected. I've been working from home for fifteen months now.

I've been working from home for fifteen months now. There were a couple of restrictions following the bridge replacement work, including one long one of 50mph for nearly three miles on the single line section. I imagine the track hasn't been stressed yet allowing those restrictions to be lifted, and the heat has meant 50mph has been restricted further to 20mph.

09:50 London Paddington to Hereford due 12:43 09:50 London Paddington to Hereford due 12:43 will no longer call at Slough. This is due to this train hitting an obstruction on the line. [/i] I don't suppose this amendment will have affected may passengers for the OWW▸ line, but it does seem to have arisen from a bit of an odd reason

Delays to services between Worcester Shrub Hill and Oxford Following urgent repairs to a bridge between Worcester Shrub Hill and Oxford all lines will be reopened shortly. Train services running through these stations will be delayed. Disruption is expected until 14:30 17/09. Customer Advice Replacement road transport has begun operating between Worcester Shrub Hill and Oxford via Moreton-in-Marsh although this is proving difficult to resource, and is very limited. ... [snip] [/i] No fun if you've wanted to use the OWW▸ today

It will no longer call at Hereford, Ledbury, Colwall, Great Malvern, Malvern Link, Worcester Foregate Street, Worcester Shrub Hill, Worcestershire Parkway Hl, Pershore, Evesham, Honeybourne, Moreton-In-Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury and Hanborough. This is due to a fault on this train. The corresponding Down working, 1W01 0950 ex Padd was in trouble at Twyford and caped at Oxford

Yesterday morning’s disruption demonstrated yet again the problems caused by the single line section at the Oxford end of the line.
The 0514 WOS» to PAD» hit a deer somewhere near Charlbury, and proceeded at slow speed to Oxford, where it arrived 50 late and was cancelled.
It in turn delayed the 0550 PAD to GMV, which was 13 late at Charlbury.
The 0448 HFD» to PAD was delayed by both – first following the 0514, then waiting for the 0550 to clear the single line. It arrived at Oxford 51 late and at Paddington 46 late.

Welcome to the forum, 2251. It's (another) good example of just how much the halving of some lines from 2 tracks to 1 has decimated capacity. At least - thank goodness - one track remained. That said, even with two tracks, hitting an animal on the line and bringing a train to a halt would probably close the second line, at least for a brief check?

Today was my first visit to my work place since March last year. It actually felt remarkably normal: the cycle to my local station, the walk from my destination to the office, the office systems and everything. Even my train journeys seemed very normal: the morning service was over ten minutes late waiting for a delayed service to clear the single track between Wolvercote and Charlbury and my lunchtime train home: 11:50 London Paddington to Hereford due 14:41 was terminated at Oxford. It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-In-Marsh, Evesham, Worcestershire Parkway Hl, Worcester Shrub Hill, Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link, Great Malvern, Colwall, Ledbury and Hereford. This is due to a fault on this train. with the return 15:18 HFD» : PAD» cancelled. edit to remove errant comma

Poor show by West Midlands Railway on the western half of the route today: both the 17.39 and 18.48 from Hereford are cancelled, leaving a 3hr+ gap in services between Hereford and Great Malvern across the evening peak. Ongoing staff shortage, I presume.

Yes, they’ve been struggling more than most TOCs▸ recently. Their new Class 196s are very delayed in entering service as well - it’s now almost two years since the first one was built.

The signalling problems between Didcot Parkway and Swindon/Oxford have been reported elsewhere but the impact on Cotswold Line services has been significant. In terms of services to the Cotswolds: 1W25 1250 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street This service was cancelled due to a signalling systems failure (IF).
13:50 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 16:13 has been cancelled. This is due to a fault with the signalling system.
14:50 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 17:12 has been cancelled. This is due to a fault with the signalling system. And whilst not on JourneyCheck yet, National Rail Enquiries is showing the following 15:20 Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street as being cancelled too. A number of return runs to London beginning to show up as cancellations too. No suggestions of any alternative arrangements in place.
