HSTs▸ (High Speed Train) started scheduled working to Fishguard from 12th May 1986.  Finished [estimate] around 2005/2006.    Source - an old RMWeb thread; dates and estimate seems reasonable to me.

Others may be able to confirm start / be more accurate on the end.

There used to be a BR▸ (British Rail(ways)) Press Officer who caught the early morning train from Fishguard somewhere in South Wales to get to work in Swindon.  In those pre internet days his job was to feed information to local radio stations about any problems with the morning commute. 

One morning he was delayed because the train was late waiting for the ferry.   Thus the only train he could report on was the Fishguard - which he told everyone was delayed "because the tide was out".

FGW▸ (First Great Western) (as it was then) ceased running there on ATW▸ (Arriva Trains Wales (former TOC▸ (Train Operating Company))) taking on their current franchise in December 2003
