I have created two e petitions to reopen Corsham station and Wootton Bassett station. I believe there was a campaign a few years ago to reopen Corsham station but can't find anything except past news articles on the net, and the same for Wootton Bassett station which there was also talk about reopening. I think Corsham and Wootton Bassett would be used as much as Melksham station if not more since they are on the main line, however it is unlikley that express services would call at them but if they were reopened maybe it would increase the need for the Bristol to oxford service since local trains like those that call at Melksham would be calling at the two additional stations. How would the reopening of these stations affect services calling at Melksham? Here are the petitions http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/corshamstation/http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/woottonbass/

See quote below regarding Corsham : Regarding Corsham, research (backed up by source info) suggests that calling HST▸ 's there would take 3 minutes extra, and that there is approximately 3 minutes slack into Bath. Stage Two of my West Fleet plan takes this into account, and also makes provision for a seperate hourly daytime service calling at Corsham (link below.) http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=1407.msg8181#msg8181

Reopening the third platform at Chippenham, and reopening Portishead and Corsham would be good but are they actually going to do that?

Public, campaigning and political pressure continues to remind the powers that be of the importance of all of the above, and that needs to carry on and be stepped up.

I have to agree, looking at Corsham's size now its in dire need of a train link now. The same could be said about Gosport, its the largest town in europe without a train station

These might include a guided bus system. In order to safeguard possible future plans, the County Council proposes to buy the section of former railway line between Fareham and Holbrook, to protect it for future use as a public transport link.

I have noticed the new fence up around the old entrance way for the former Gosport line. It be a bright idea, espically if they reconnect platform 2 to the rest of the Pompey/Brighton line, seems rather odd to have a local service to Fareham that only calls at two stops on the way v.v

One of the ideas put forward for its future use was this one...... http://www.rubberhighways.com/
