On Saturdays 3rd and 10th December South West Trains are running a Santa Special dmu (class 158/159) from Weymouth and Dorchester West to Salisbury via Yeovil (with reversals).

The train leaves Weymouth at 08.03 returning at 18.25 and the fare is £10 return. Tickets are available online or from ticket offices on the day.

There will be festive fun on board with profits going to the Dorset Weldmar Hospice.

I was told there would be one in the opposite direction (ie day in Weymouth) on 17th December but I haven't seen any evidence yet!

Is there a link for the online purchasing or more information? I've tried the SWT (South West Trains) website and can't find anything there.

I have found a news item. That says tickets start at £5 return and are available from Weldmar Hospicecare representatives at stations or on the train.

http://m.blackmorevale.co.uk/south-west-trains-christmas-shopper-and-santa-special-services-take-in-sherborne/story-29940323-detail/story.html

That story, rather unhelpfully, neglects to mention the train times.

I checked out the SWT (South West Trains) ticket booking site this morning and it was working fine. If, for example, you are starting from Weymouth, just type in Weymouth into the departure station and put your departure time as 08.00, then put in a return time of 16.15 from Salisbury. The train is shown as direct both ways and the return fare £10.  The £5 fare applies from Sherborne and Gillingham.

The booking engine doesn't really advertise the 'Santa Special' though.

Is there no promotional information online?
