What work is being undertaken which results in the closure of track between Bristol Temple Meads and Parkway, also the Severn Beach Line, Parkway to Gloucester, Parkway to Newport and Temple Meads to Severn Tunnel Junction?

Last October's EAS attributes this closure to "WORK: BASRE (Bristol Area Signalling Renewal and Enhancement) PHASE 2 SIGNALLING COMMISSIONING (FILTON DIAMOND)."

BASRE is the Bristol Area Signalling Renewal and Enhancement project, which transfers control to TVSC» (Thames Valley Signalling Centre - about) at Didcot.

The EAS also says this about its traffic implications:
FGW (First Great Western) HSS (High Speed Services) SERVICES BETWEEN LONDON AND SOUTH WALES DIVERTED VIA GLOUCESTER. XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) SERVICES DIVERTED VIA SWINDON (REVERSE) AND STROUD.
SOME XC SERVICES TO TERMINATE AT GLOUCESTER OR BIRMINGHAM.
REPLACEMENT ROAD TRANSPORT REQUIRED BRISTOL TEMPLE MEADS-BRISTOL PARKWAY GLOUCESTER-CLIFTON DOWN AND SEVERN TUNNEL JCN (Junction)/NEWPORT.
WHEELS STATIONARY IN STOKE GIFFORD YARD THROUGHOUT.
NO ACCESS TO AVONMOUTH THROUGHOUT. PORTBURY TRAFFIC TO RUN VIA BATH.
EASTWEST FREIGHT TRAFFIC DIVERTED VIA GLOUCESTER.

So TVSC» (Thames Valley Signalling Centre - about) Control will be working west into Bristol this year!

The EAS you quote refers to Phase 2 so What is Phase 1? Is the Bath section transferring over the Easter blockade?
After Phase 2 is complete will TVSC go all the way to Filton?  Does that mean it will then interface directly with SWSC?

There's some more details in this flyer for Network Rail Consulting. Obviously not to be believed in its entirety, but presumably the scope was at least right when they started.

It's no help on the phasing - but given how much detailed stuff is involved that could have been pretty well invisible. One point of note is that it does not say whether axle counters are the immunisation of choice, which I understood was true for the whole GW (Great Western) electrification project.
