A word of caution from a group (none-rail) of which I am a member "As a few people are starting to vanish on Christmas breaks ..." I'm posting this message about the dangers of going away at Christmas.    OK - so that's not quite what the poster intended to imply, I'm sure!

Spotting a little other humour around ... I'm not sure if anyone else has flagged this up:

To any of our regular users going away over Christmas, have a great time.  And remember that if you get bored, the Internet is just about everywhere these day and although the trains won't be running, this forum will still be.  I may take the opportunity to do a little engineering work, which may interfere a little with services - so please do allow extra time for your posts ...

I hope the site engineering work goes well, and you^ve done all your risk assessments, method statements, contingency plans etc.  You^re going to be busy, I see that your day job is open all through Christmas as well!

Keep up the good work.  Merry Christmas from one appreciative member of the Coffee Shop.

Many thanks for the wishes and encouragement.  I have indeed considered what could go wrong, how the task will be achieved, and what to do if it goes belly-up in the process.  I think that's the conversion of what you said from NetworkRailease whilst removing their necessary extra costs because what they do is safety-critical.

Great to see that someone connected with FGW (First Great Western) (even if only tangentially) will be providing a service on Boxing Day!!!   Grin

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish.
