..and from the country that invented the railway and developed pioneering engineering like the HST▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) & APT▸ (Advanced Passenger Train), ... we don't build them any more and have to buy-in

Trains are still built or assembled in the UK▸ (United Kingdom). To say nothing of the many, many British designed and built components that go into a modern train.
