Bedford Premier Inn murder: Woman's body found in hotel room

A woman has been found dead in a hotel room in Bedford and police believe a man found dead on a railway line in Warwickshire was her partner.

The woman, believed to be aged in her 40s and from Milton Keynes, was found at the Premier Inn, Wilkinson Road, Kempston on Saturday morning.

The man, who was thought to be in his late 30s, was found on the tracks at Nuneaton later in the day.

Police launched a murder inquiry after the discovery of the woman's body. They said they were not looking for anyone else as part of the inquiry.

A post-mortem examination into the woman's death was due to take place on Sunday.

Police said the man was believed to be from Nuneaton and they had been trying to trace him.

Det Ch Insp Martin Brunning said: "I can confirm that officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with both deaths. However, the inquiry will now proceed on behalf of HM Coroner who will conduct an inquest in due course which will outline the circumstances surrounding the investigation."

No further details would be released until formal identification of both dead people had taken place, police said.

A post-mortem examination of the man is due to take place in a few days.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
