Out of interest, how does one join?  The website, as we have discussed before, points to this thread.

You can join by contacting the membership secretary, Rob Brown, on (01225) 864221 or for more information, contact the chairman, Roger Newman on (01225) 762337. All being well, the new website should be up and running in the New Year. Richard.

It's worth being a member of the group if you're in (or interested in) the West Wilts area; they have a track record of informing on and supporting existing services, and I'm very happy to see them doing so with such good coverage in this issue for the now-existing TransWits service.

Bob, the new West Wilts Rail User Group web site ( http://www.wwrug.org.uk/ ) has now been activated and the contact information, meeting details, etc, are on there.

We previously hosted the site for the group, but they have decided to move to a new setup rather than carry on with the old arrangement.  As seems inevitable, there are some technical issues with moving domains around and ownership transfer;  we're working together to get these resolved, but there may be one or two "funnies" / glitches in service while caches time out as we do so. Initial reports of issues on their new website should probably be made direct to the group, but I'll be very much ready and willing to help on anything that turns out to relate to the transfer away from our hosting

Those who attended the talk last year by Publications Manager Ian Mundy may like to know he has moved on and is currently "Interim Station Manager - South Devon Stations"  With the current problems there I wish him luck.

I am not sure if the change is permanent but currently Andy McRae has the title of Senior Publications Manager.

It's a temporary secondment, so he will be back.

TWCRP» (TransWilts Community Rail Partnership - about) already have an excellent working relationship with Andy McRae, so no worries there.

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
