The "number of crimes per million journeys" is probably the most useful figure.  It follows, without argument, that more passenger journeys will result in more crime.

Passengers of InterCity TOCs (Train Operating Company) are more likely to part with their luggage throughout the journey, hence the higher number of crimes reported on these services.

Also interesting to note that despite the image the article is trying to portray, Paddington does not feature in the top 5 "worst London stations".

The level of reporting of the Daily Mail continues to astound me..

Apart from the "Worst Late Western" line in the article and the fact FGW (First Great Western) do not appear in the "Crimes per passenger million journeys", I would love to ask the DM (Dilton Marsh) journalists what on earth Tim O'Toole's salary has to do with this...  Huh

Because the readers of the DM (Dilton Marsh) are anti high salaries. Anti bankers etc. etc.

Despite the fact that if FGW (First Great Western) paid less, Tim o Toole would go on to do a different job that paid well and FGW would lose the talent.

The DM is just anti rail it has always disliked rail, it pretends to be the defender of the rail commuter when in reality all the DM dose is sensationalise rail stores to sell more copy

Really strange that this article focuses on FGW (First Great Western) when the worst stats for crime are on the publicly owned East Coast TOC (Train Operating Company). Surely the Daily Mail should be questioning why crime is worse on the state run railway.

Also, season tickets are going up across the country by 3.1%. This price rise isn't unique to FGW.

I wonder if the article writer, Martin Beckford, commutes with FGW? That would possibly explain the unfair criticism of FGW in this shocking excuse for journalism. That's Martin Beckford, Home Affairs Editor at the Mail on Sunday.*

This standard of journalism in the Daily Mail is not as bad as what you get in your local rag.

In Worcestershire, London Midland have improved the Dec 2014 Snow Hill service, reducing journey times, etc.

One unfortunate impact is that 2 small village stations have altered calling patterns so they lose a direct off peak service to Worcester.

The local rag reported that "now all the trains just wizz through" (the same number stop as before, just different destinations) and that the "cuts" were due to more trains calling at a different station* (not true). They had some local people moaning about the connection, despite the fact that it is an 8 min same platform change and also lied about .

*Hartlebury, a station that now gets it's best service in 50 years, not mentioned in the article.
