An old railway station in the centre of the city is to have a ^75,000 transformation so it can host weddings.
The upstairs rooms at Green Park Station have been taken over by Andrew Peters, owner of the Green Park Brasserie, where he hopes to launch a new venue for the city.
Mr Peters said the rooms, which have not been renovated since 1985, will be completely refurbished with new flooring, furniture, bathrooms and kitchen area. He said the plan was to make them available for functions for up to 150 people including weddings, birthday parties, dinners, lectures and other business events.
He said: "The rooms are fantastic and will provide us with a very flexible space for many different events. It is great to be able to offer our expertise and experience to a wider audience. The team here has an excellent reputation for the detailed planning and smooth running of all types of events and are looking forward to doing many more."
Currently the rooms are used by some local groups to host weekly and monthly meetings.
Mr Peters said most groups, such as the Railway Society, the Historical Association and RSPB would continue to meet at Green Park Station. He said: "We have been working where we can with groups who meet there and most have been accommodated."
The Green Park Brasserie, which celebrates its 21st anniversary this year, is popular within the Bath dining scene and is also well known for its live music nights.
The rooms will be closed for three weeks from March 25 for the work to take place and then re-launched on April 15 as The Bath Functions Rooms.
The business expansion is expected to create two new full-time positions and five part-time positions.
