The Daily Mail themselves can't seem to decide what the idiot actually did:

Shocking footage shows the man casually climbing over a closed barrier

Shocking CCTV^▸ (Closed Circuit Tele Vision) footage shows the reckless man risking his life by casually climbing over a closed barrier before strolling across two sets of tracks.
As he reaches the other side he is seen swinging one leg over the barrier just one second before the huge train hurtles past at around 40mph.

Since a commercial organisation is obviously better than a slow old public sector one, the BBC^» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) should clearly be more commercial then then it too would be hysterical.

Referring to the other thread on the recent fatality at Yarnton Sandy Lane crossing, just goes to show that it's very difficult to stop complete lunatics misbehaving or taking stupid chances at level crossings
