William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Trains services between Cardiff and Newport back up

Train services between Cardiff and Newport are back up and running after they were suspended because of a chemical spill on the line.

The spillage, reported to be fuel from a train wagon, happened in Wentlooge.

It meant hundreds of rush-hour passengers have been stuck in Cardiff Central Station as train services were cancelled with replacement bus services for some.

Arriva Trains Wales tweeted: "Good news, line has reopened but we have lots of trains and crews out of position. Delays and cancellations still having an impact presently."

South Wales Fire and Rescue service said they were dealing with an incident in Wentlooge and would release more information later.

Paul Samuays, 45, train driver, said there has been a fuel leak from a train wagon near Wentlooge freight terminal. He said: "Our train got in at 4.50pm. This is quite a busy station so this is causing quite a bit of disturbance."
