From an email received from Southern today
Quote
Dear key customer

Thank you for joining the key revolution!

Southern^s smartcard is continuing to develop and we wanted to contact you with an update on progress

PlusBus on your key

We are very pleased to be able to tell you that from Monday 22 October you can buy weekly and monthly PlusBus tickets on your key for the Crawley and Brighton areas (excluding Newhaven and Seaford stations).

This is the first time any train company has offered rail and bus tickets on the one smartcard and we believe this makes travel for you more simple and speedy.

From Monday you can buy PlusBus tickets in the following ways:

^   Weekly ^ From the Self Service Machine at the same time as your weekly ticket. Just push the Add PlusBus button before you confirm your order.

^   Monthly ^ By calling Customer Services on 08451 27 29 20 from Monday ^ Friday, between 9 and 5. Please note that you must have bought a monthly ticket online prior to calling. Customers with a monthly rail ticket can also buy weekly PlusBus tickets during the course of the month in this way.

We will continue to add stations and tickets to the key in the future. Our next step will be to add all stations from Brighton up to Merstham and stations in the Arun Valley. We will keep you updated with progress as we move forward.

Survey Feedback

Thank you to everyone who completed our online survey ^ we found the results really helpful as we develop the key.

Having reviewed the responses in full we are now taking steps to improve your experience, including redesigning the website, providing additional training to our Customer Services team and much more. We will also be upgrading our validators at stations to include details of when tickets expire ^ we will provide further information on this work in the near future.

Everyone who completed a survey was placed in a hat and one lucky winner was selected at random to receive a ^50 e voucher. This customer has now been contacted and if it was not you don^t worry as we will run the survey again for another chance for you to let us know how we are doing and your chance to win more e vouchers as well.

In the meantime if you have any questions or feedback please feel free to contact us at [removed by Brucey]

Many thanks
The key team
Very good news IMHO ('in my humble opinion'), although I do wonder if ALL operators in these areas will manage without issues?

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
