Maybe the interruption to service has meant that this significant announcement has gone with comment so far.

As I understand it the ORR» (Office of Rail and Road, formerly Office of Rail Regulation - about) has provisionally approved the 5 yr investment programme, though I've not managed to find anything in respect of specific projects that made up the programme. Does anyone have a more informed view?

There are still a couple more steps to go through, the next being NR» (Network Rail - home page)'s response to the determination, but I have a feeling that this was the step which would most likely have resulted in a paring back of the proposals.

That's just it's public statement. They have to respond formally to ORR» (Office of Rail and Road, formerly Office of Rail Regulation - about) by 4th September, following which ORR will produce it's final determination following which....

And we wonder why the privatised railway costs so much.

But that NR page is what they published about CP5 (Control Period 5 - the five year period between 2014 and 2019) in January.  It can't be a response to this weeks ORR statement - which is only a draft determination anyway.  It's an ongoing dialogue, as I mentioned in the Bristol area thread a few days ago...

...but only in the context that the local media were predicting ORR to give an explicit yes/no for the four tracking.  But as you've found out as well, ORR are not dealing with individual projects at this stage, it's still very much a high level document...
