There is likely to be bag-screening and body searches at the busiest stations , such as Bristol Temple Meads and Bath Spa , which will cause delays at peak times.

And the Prime Minister announced security barriers , vehicle exclusion zones and blast resistant buildings will be introduced at up to 250 of the busiest UK (United Kingdom) train stations.

That means the stringent precautions will be introduced at Swindon , Bristol Parkway , Salisbury and Chippenham too. More in the links below.

It would be possible for bikes to contain explosives.
And if racks are provided for bikes, these should be used.

The issue with this anti-terror measures at major stations is pointless. Just means terrorists will join a train at a smaller station.

I agree with you Ollie.  It is good to see a member of staff brave enough to say that these precautions are useless.  It is just a shame that Moir Lockhead isn't publically calling Gordon an idiot for suggesting that bag checks at some but not all stations will deter terrorism.

If all the money spent on "security" was used to increase capacity and lower fares on the trains thereby lowering the number of accidents on the roads how many lives would be saved?  If the money was used to clean hospitals better how many lives would be saved?
