This'll please Mookiemoo.

On the 07:01 WSB» (Westbury - next trains) - RDG (Rail Delivery Group, or Reading station, depending on context) and Soft Drink Cans are back in First Class and complimentary!! Grin

The selection includes: Coke, Diet Coke, Fanta Orange and Sprite. (Not R-Whites)

Along with this are new cakes/pastries and fruit juices! Wondering what the afternoon selection will be assuming I don't return via XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise))!

Although I am on the Pretendolino drinking tea from a china cup so they have redeemed themselves Grin

um - I know

lolol

but the staff are instructed to pop the can on handover - hence what I said years ago when they stopped them

finally common sense prevails

A cynic might suspect that a franchise renewal is in the offing !

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

Fanta fizzy orange is good with gin.
The larger cans than those used for mixers mean that more gin must be purchased in order to use the whole can.

BTW (by the way) is there any policy on carrying goods for sale on the trolley that serves complimentaries in First ?
Seems pot luck at present. Most trolley staff carry some saleables, but others dont. This causes delay whilst the goods are fetched from the buffet, and the endless walking to and fro must be irksome.
