I will admit to be really shocked Hungerford has no ticket office!

Nailsea and Backwell is an awful station. Reminds me of lots of outer london ones, up on stilts with lots of concrete. Yatton is very lucky, its a really lovely station.

Simply because I cannot think where else to put it - a quiz question.  Why did Yatton used to have a regular police presence around midnight six nights a week?

Hmm.  Due to someone important passing through the station?  Undecided

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

The Travelling Post Office was booked to call at Yatton at around 0030 to pick up the post that had arrived at Bristol Airport and transferred to Yatton by van. Don't know which how many nights per week it call there though.

Wow.

Yatton station basically has a 130 year long story of decline from major junction through to Clevedon railhead, post office interchange an on to not even having a ticket office Tongue

There's a book in it.
