Do you know these men? British Transport Police appeal after racist assault ^ Cardiff
British Transport Police (BTP▸ ) officers investigating a racially aggravated assault and theft at Cardiff Central rail station are appealing for the public^s help in identifying two people they would like to speak to about the incident.
Officers have today released CCTV▸ images of two men they believe may have key information which could assist their investigation.
Investigating officer PC Jon Childs said: ^The victim, a 21-year-old man from Cardiff, was walking past Cardiff Central station on his way home from the gym when he was racially abused by a group of men who proceeded to assault him for no apparent reason. He was then further assaulted in the station concourse, during which time it is believed his mobile phone was stolen.^
The victim, who was left extremely shaken as a result of the attack, suffered cuts and grazes, as well as swelling to his cheek. He did not require hospital treatment.
Having viewed CCTV footage, officers have identified two people ^ both in their mid 20s - they would like to trace in connection with the incident, which happened around 6.45pm on Friday, 10 February.
The first is described as around 6ft 2in, of stocky build, with short brown hair, and was wearing blue jeans, a blue, white and grey checked jacket with a white top underneath, and a gold chain.
The second man is around 5ft 8in, of medium build, with short brown hair and was wearing jeans and a black top.
PC Childs said: ^We have circulated the images to local police forces and rail staff in an attempt to obtain names for these men but have had no success so far. I am hopeful that someone will recognise these two individuals, who we are extremely keen to speak to as we believe they may have key information that could assist us with this investigation.
^This was a violent and unprovoked attack on a victim who was alone and simply trying to make his way home. BTP and the rail industry will not tolerate any form of hate crime on the rail network and we will pursue those responsible.
^I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or recognises the men in these photographs to come forward and speak to the police.^
