Statusmaps.net have a similar set up for Amtrak - on a smaller scale, of course, although the sum total of 'minutes late' on Amtrak probably rivals that of the 6500 trains in India!

Britain's ahead of the game!!!  Apparently staff in ticket offices can use a screen which can track the volo signal on FGW (First Great Western) hst's

We aren't a million miles away from it though, it's something some of the very clever developers are working on with the Network Rail open access data. On the link above there are three signal diagrams which are using Network Rail open access data.

Just think! You could have a model train set based on the real UK (United Kingdom) layout where the datafeeds control the operation of the model trains...I can just imagine the conversation with my son if we ever did this...

"Dad, how come those trains are always breaking down?"..."Well, Son they are 180's....and they like their sidings Smiley
