This Is Cornwall:Liskeard railway station received a weekend makeover thanks to student volunteers.
University of Plymouth students spent three hours on Saturday gardening and weeding on platform three to help brighten it up for Looe Valley Line passengers.
They replanted tubs and created a sensory herb garden.
Rebecca Catterall, from the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, said: "The Looe Valley Line saw 100,000 journeys in 2011, the highest number for years, and with more people on the line we want to make the stations look nice for them."
Claire Massey, from the University of Plymouth Students' Union volunteering department, said it was only the first project of 2012.
I happened to pick up a copy of Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership's excellent "Working in Partnership in Devon & Cornwall" booklet on Saturday, which features a good back page write-up on the Plymouth University Student Volunteering project.
