Jumped on the bus this morning to find the fares had gone up from ^2.50 to ^2.70 about 8%, but hang on, at Easter last year it was ^2.30, so that's about 17% in nine months. So should I mount a national campaign, have a fares strike, errr no  I'll save my vitriol for the railways' 6%

Wow. this seems a little frivolous. Is there a question in there or are you just unhappy with your local bus service?

Bus services are local. By all means have a local bus fare strike. My local bus service hasn't risen in price!
Rail fares (while not effecting all services) (maximum) rise are set Nationally.

Some of my local bus journeys went down in price late last year....

^1.20/^1.70/^2.20 (depending on journey length) all down to a flat fare ^1.

Most welcome, although the service went from 4bph to 2bph.

No, the service is ok it's just that I feel that sometimes the railways are unfairly targeted.

The railways are an easy target, but to be honest, people take no real notice of railway news now, it's a bit of a boy who cried wolf scenario!
