1  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2019 cancellation and amendments log on: January 22, 2019, 13:50:16
6.42 HFD» (Hereford - next trains)-PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) cancelled today as noted above, train was in platform at HFD having arrived ecs from Stoke Gifford but other crew not there, perhaps someone might know if GW (Great Western) have now reverted to taxis again to get crew to Hereford for ecs coming up from Bristol area. Is this related to the transfer of work to Stoke Gifford  In the past this use of taxis caused problems and proved not to be reliable, certainly very poor road conditions out there early this morning
2  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / 08.22 Paddington to Hereford on: June 24, 2015, 21:47:46
Today and Yesterday this service has been terminated at Great Malvern and the return working started back from there. The new timetable gives no time for this service to run through to Hereford if it is slightly late. Today and Yesterday it could have been terminated at Ledbury and the return working started from there reducing the impact on passengers. This returns us to the days of several years ago when this service and its return working became notoriously unreliable, regularly not getting further west than Malvern or even Worcester, as a result longer layovers were introduced in Hereford, now we are back where we started , a very poor show FGW (First Great Western) and one I guess we can look forward to with regularity
3  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line 90% fare increases from 17 May 2015 on: May 17, 2015, 07:31:55
All gone very quiet on this thread, we are now in the run up to the introduction of these changes tomorrow and apart from PR (Public Relations) about the availability of Advance fares there is nothing on the FGW (First Great Western) website about the revised off peak restrictions west of Oxford. I found a locally produced information sheet at Worcester F.S. but no mention there of fares routed Evesham/Stroud which may be the best London fares for passengers starting out from stations between Hereford and Worcester and wanting to return in the evening peak with some flexibility. And I wonder if David Cameron got a reply to his letter to FGW?
4  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: 15.51 Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill on: August 30, 2013, 08:00:51
Thanks for above, had not spotted this thread. Train shows tonight as non reservable which is unusual, maybe a turbo in prospect perhaps
5  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / 15.51 Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill on: August 30, 2013, 07:11:51
Anyone able to advise if this is still a 3 car Turbo instead of an HST (High Speed Train) on Fridays?
6  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Class 180s return to the Cotswolds on: January 29, 2013, 07:20:54
Whats the situation with bikes on the train now 180s have (almost!) taken over the evening halts service?. Used to regularly catch the turbo back to Malvern from stations west of Ascott but perceived possible difficulty with bikes has made us stop doing it, eg at Honeybourne, Ascott and Shipton for example only one of two van areas is platformed so if its full...!
But can understand fully the need to have the 180, have often passed the halts service waiting for the single line at Wolvercote as a passenger on the 15.13 from Hereford, always looked very cosy in a turbo!!
7  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: MOVED: No FGW to Hereford ?? on: January 23, 2013, 10:28:18
This unsubstantiated rumour now only available to selected users of this forum will cause alarm bells to ring in Herefordshire as it implies we will lose our direct London services. With infrastructure limitations west of Malvern thanks to past cost saving measures this needs careful watching and it is not helpful to leave a thread with a scary subject like this without being able to assess if it is credible, it should either be removed entirely or the so called rumour mill be made accessible to registered users of this forum
