1  Journey by Journey / Heart of Wessex / Gillingham? on: August 13, 2011, 21:54:50
More of a "it's on my mind I wan't to know what's happening" query, but in Gillingham (Dorset) station the past few weeks, diggers have been tackling the weedy area behind the signal box.

Network Rail have also started storing track and ballast there recently, and I have noticed the small siding has been upgraded.

Does anyone know whats happening/ its new use?

Regards
2  All across the Great Western territory / Smoke and Mirrors / Exeter Central... I thought they were doing it right! on: April 20, 2011, 11:10:37
On Sunday, I used the 1320 Exeter Central to Dawlish service. Not knowing the area, I asked the lady at the desk if this called at Starcross, and she replied yes. To double check when I got on the train I asked the guard, and he said yes.
However, at Exeter St Davids the guard changed, and when he came to check my ticket, he told me that the train did not stop there.

I can understand one person getting it wrong, but 2, including the guard on the train!  Angry

3  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Night Riviera sleeper service - Cornwall to London on: April 20, 2011, 11:06:05
Okay Thankyou  Smiley

While i'm on the topic, do Back-to-Back HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) power cars often travel up the line to and from Exeter? I have seen pictures of them in Penzance etc.

Hello

I am in Devon for the week, and want to photo the NightRiviera Trains, however I do not fancy getting up at 5am!

Do they travel back up to London in daylight? If so what time, and where can I photograph them?

Cheers
JJ

6  Journey by Journey / Heart of Wessex / Yeovil > Oxford Class 50s? on: January 22, 2011, 21:10:44
Hey guys... I'm not too sure if this is the right place for this but anyhoo...
I read in Rail Express a few months back about a Local hauled service between Yeovil and Oxford using Class 50s.

Until then I didn't know anything about this... could anyone provide me with any more information?

Cheers, JJ  Grin

But I put 'Via Basingstoke' In the box.
10  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / SWT Pricing confusion on: January 03, 2010, 18:16:42
I was just looking at ticket prices and discovered the following.

GILLLINGHAM DORSET to EASTLEIGH Via Salisbury ^18.60
GILLINGHAM DORSET to BASINGSTOKE Direct ^20.30
GILLINGHAM DORSET to EASTLEIGH Via Basingstoke ^18.60

So does that mean if I wanted to go to Basingstoke I buy a ticket so Eastleigh and save  couple of quid.
Is there any more of these known?

Praise for FGW (First Great Western) yesterday as the 1702 Eastleigh to Salisbury was my first ever FGW train on time, on a route they don't usually do aswell!!

However, the 0932 (0937) Salisbury to Eastleigh shown that it was to call at Chandlers Ford, but didn't, Did anyone pick up on this?
