Plusbus has always struck me as one of those things that is a damned good idea, but completely let down by implementation.

As mentioned earlier, you can buy a Plusbus ticket to take you to the station, but you have to go to the station to buy it? OK if you are regular traveler and plan ahead, but utterly useless for the occasional traveler. Would it be possible to design a more stupid system?

My train company (First Capital Connect) changed to operate a Delay/Repay scheme, from the percentage discount of a season ticket, when they took over the franchise from Thameslink and WAGN.

There were a lot of complaints from season ticket holders for several reasons -

A delay has to be over 30 minutes before any compensation is paid (50% of the value of that journey, so 1/730th of the season ticket), which for a short/medium commute, is a very late train.

If the whole network as been disrupted with cancellations all day, so the now running trains are rammed packed, but if your train is not late, no claim.

You have to positively claim the compensation, although they have designed a system so that you can do it online.

It is the last point that seems to be the big moneysaver, people just don't bother. Even when I have mentioned it to people who are not cash rich / time poor, they still say that they can't be bothered for such a small amount.
