1  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Pad to Devon/Cornwall Friday 24th May pm/Saturday 25th am on: May 24, 2013, 12:13:00
Grin as normal for Bank holiday weekend (and half term) to the West trains are fully reserved now, so make sure you get on board sharpish at Paddington if you have not reserved a seat and don`t wish to stand up. Even the Sleeper tonight has all seats and berths booked.
2  All across the Great Western territory / Who's who on Western railways / Re: Great Western Railway - Directors and management team (merged posts, ongoing updates) on: May 18, 2013, 19:57:15
e Roll Eyes He was regarded as a complete *&$$ at NXEA (National Express East Anglia) ........ good luck ! (hope he don`t rub up FGW (First Great Western) train crew the wrong way)
3  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Looe Sunday service 2013 on: April 24, 2013, 20:14:18
Embarrassed Must have been half asleep last year (or were they missed off FGW (First Great Western) summer printed timetable ?)
4  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Looe Sunday service 2013 on: April 24, 2013, 18:44:01
Pleased to see that Sunday timetable extended until October on Looe branch - anyone know if this is a trial ?
5  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Night Riviera sleeper service - Cornwall to London on: August 08, 2012, 21:30:58
Wink Now only 1 berth left for booking Friday night - get in there quick for last minute weekend trip to Cornwall folks !! (or you will be in seating coaches instead)
6  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: Isles of Scilly sea ferry and air services - merged posts on: August 02, 2012, 13:43:51
Roll Eyes bloody Tesco have a lot to answer for !  Cry Cry
7  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Volo TV now free to use on: June 13, 2012, 11:00:51
Sad Well you need to be daft as a sheep to put up with trainlines rip off fees and appalling customer service !
8  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Easter 2012 to Cornwall ? on: April 04, 2012, 18:26:33
Shocked If you are going to Cornwall tommorow (Thurs 5th) afternoon/evening without seat reservations get to Paddington Early as all trains fully booked in Standard now, will be mad scramble for Coach E as only coach non-reservable !
9  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Bristol Temple Meads booking office (a little rant) on: January 05, 2012, 16:07:31
Sad While I agree 100% with the original poster, be thankful you are not in NXEA (National Express East Anglia) land, whole ticket offices close hours earlier than advertised times due to staff shortages on a VERY regular basis even at very large stations like Norwich or Colchester !
10  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Delays at Menheniot on: December 02, 2010, 18:58:17
Shocked I seem to remember timetables from 1980`s used to state rail tickets between SER and St Ives were valid on Western National bus.  Angry This was before wonderful privatisation of Uk Buses and Railways came about of course !!
Ref. about what if you had a Plus ticket - would you be stranded if you had a Ride Cornwall ticket ?
11  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: St Ives branch line - engineering work, closures, incidents (merged topics) on: October 24, 2010, 19:59:48
I would expect they would reduce bus frequency on inter - urban routes like St Ives - PNZ on Sundays (every 2hrs in winter ?) rather than scrap the whole route, does Cornwall Council contract specific journeys  with bus companies or use some other "block" type payments ?
12  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Night Riviera sleeper service - Cornwall to London on: August 05, 2010, 22:13:33
yes that price is for berth AND travel - if people knew such good fares available sure it would be even more popular !  Shocked
13  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: Cambridge Guided Busway - ongoing discussion and updates (merged topic) on: July 06, 2010, 14:03:18
Roll Eyes Shocked yes it appears that 2011 is now the earliest the busway might open !! LMAO - what a complete farce Huh
14  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Night Riviera sleeper service - Cornwall to London on: June 22, 2010, 16:10:42
Smiley ......... and people finding out it exists !!!
15  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Devon - Central, North and South / Re: Buying advance tickets tomorrow on: June 16, 2010, 12:06:46
For ^15.75 Advance Purchase each way (I'm assuming 1 adult 1 child F&F) you can go 1st class on the FGW (First Great Western) 0913 from Bristol TM (Train Manager, or possibly Ticket Machine, depending on context) to Exeter SD and return on the FGW 2044 from EXD» (Exeter St Davids - next trains)-BRI» (Bristol Temple Meads - next trains). Then ^3.25 for an Off Peak Day Return from EXD-Dawlish. Does mean a unit from EXD though. Tis only 15 mins though.

Total ^34.75. With better comfort levels on the legs to/from Exeter, complimentary refreshments, served at seat in the morning, collect from buffet in the evening.
F&F railcard not valid for 1st class tickets AFAIK (as far as I know) ?
