The latest auto-response now offers this guidance... Quote At the moment, we're dealing with a lot more enquiries than normal; so it may take longer than usual to reply to your email. Many of our customers will still receive a reply within 1-2 weeks, but some could wait longer.

Yes, sort of. The Franchise Agreement (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/486668/red-fgw-franchise-agreement.pdf) says: Quote 4.8 Co-operation in respect of implementation of delay repay The Secretary of State and the Franchisee shall co-operate in good faith with the intention of implementing a revised Passenger’s Charter including “delay repay” passenger compensation provisions (or such other passenger compensation provisions as may be proposed by the Secretary of State) on or before the first anniversary of the Start Date. It is intended that any revised Passenger’s Charter shall be implemented by way of Variation pursuant to paragraph 1 of Schedule 9.5 (Variations and Incentivising Beneficial Change). As per the Definitions in the Franchise Agreement: Quote “Start Date” means 02.00 on 20 September 2015; So it looks like it was far from guaranteed as long as GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) showed the "intention" and "good faith". Looks like they've had a few questions regarding this on Twitter too... If you scroll down to the part labelled "UNPUBLISHED RESTRICTIONS", you'll see that... Quote Intended for use by computerised journey planners and online booking systems. To determine whether a journey is permitted, the time restrictions shown below are applied to: - The origin and destination of the journey - All locations where a passenger changes trains during a journey -The final destination of all trains travelled on during a journey (whether or not the passenger is travelling to that final destination) Note that these data can not be used to determine time restrictions when breaking and resuming a journey at an intermediate station. This restriction code does not apply on the following dates/days: [...] from Mon 2 May 2016 until Sun 8 May 2016 Eased on these days: Su Mo .. .. .. .. Sa ...which to my mind says no restrictions apply to this ticket on the forthcoming Bank Holiday, May 2nd.
