Just been reminded by an email from Southern Railway that tickets purchased for travel after Sunday's increase can be bought at the current pre-increase prices until Saturday. I am buying all my next week's tickets now.

Just been chatting to my favourite signaller earlier this afternoon in the pub, she could only have one pint because she's working tomorrow, she couldn't understand why it is that the strike shouldn't affect us tomorrow (Thursday) but there will still not be any trains running in Axminster, seems that the ASLEF» (Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen - about) strike does not affect SWR» (South Western Railway - about), any ideas?

The very helpful ticket office lady at Axminster station reported many passengers turning up for trains that did not exist this week, during the revised timetable, so she posted on Facebook Axminster Notice Board the following:

Please please PLEASE check the train times be4 you travel!!! TRAINLINE ARE NOT CORRECT!!! DO NOT USE TRAINLINE FOR TRAIN TIMES!!! Please use official sites SWR» (South Western Railway - about), GWR (Great Western Railway) and national rail!!
7  Journey by Journey / South Western services / Re: More bad news for travellers between Salisbury and Exeter on: September 05, 2022, 11:17:42
I was aiming to catch the 0559 this morning (Monday 5th) from Axminster to Exeter having changed my plans somewhat due to the new "Reliable Timetable". Not quite reliable enough though, first westbound train of the new timetable, cancelled.
8  Journey by Journey / South Western services / Re: More bad news for travellers between Salisbury and Exeter on: August 31, 2022, 15:53:02
Over the last few days the delays here (at Axminster) don't seem to be that bad, 20-25 minutes maximum on the Exeter bound services, much better than they were last Friday. Does this really warrant the implementation of a two hourly service next week for a month. Many services yesterday were only delayed by about ten or 12 minutes, not much more than we are used to anyway. My regular travel is from Topsham to Axminster, I can see that from next week my journey will be extended by at least an hour, maybe more, depending on connections at Exeter Central.

7. Unit 150230 in service with TfW (Transport for Wales), all others GWR (Great Western Railway).
10  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: FlexiSeasons - a year on? on: August 20, 2022, 20:08:28
My daughter, a nurse, has just got a job at Exeter Prison Hospital, she will still be doing her bank work as well, which she will have to drive to. She's only working at the prison three days per week, starting at 0730. As the prison is close to Exeter Central and parking is a no go,  she has just asked me if there is some sort of pass or season ticket to go from Topsham to Exeter Central, I told her that a season ticket wouldn't be worth it, but do you think these Flexi tickets would do the job?
11  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: tap in tap out on Bristol bus's problem on: August 17, 2022, 21:26:15
I think the Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) discounts referred to are things like adding a railcard to your Oyster for the discount.
12  Journey by Journey / South Western services / Salisbury to Exeter 13-08-2022 on: August 13, 2022, 18:10:07
I was at Axminster station a little before 0900 this morning (13th August)  the platform was filling quite quickly for the 0903 to Exeter, then an announcement that the 0903 to EXD» (Exeter St Davids - next trains) was cancelled due to emergency services attending an incident. Many people asked me what was happening, so I checked Journeycheck and found that the incident was actually yesterday. It seemed peculiar, as the previous train and following train ran, anybody have any idea why yesterday's incident affected that particular train?
13  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Renewing a Senior Railcard problem on: July 12, 2022, 14:41:15
When discussing Senior Railcards with several friends who have recently achieved the certain age, none of them knew of the 20% discount off the price of a one year Senior railcard available to Devon residents. You simply have to ask the Concessionary Travel Team at Devon County Council to supply you with a code to enter on the Railcard website. The discount is not available at station ticket offices.
14  Journey by Journey / South Western services / Re: Sunday 10 July Waterloo-Exeter service decimated on: July 11, 2022, 23:50:42
Yes it messed my Sunday and Monday up rather. I usually get the 5.52 from Axminster on Monday morning to Exeter, to get the train from there to Bristol, and sometimes go on Yate. As my  16 year old Stepdaughter had  a job interview in Yate Monday morning |I really tried to get there, but no trains from Axminster on Sunday, or this morning, so had to give up. Happy though, she got the job anyway. I've just been talking (in the pub) to one of the very few female signallers, and she told me that Network Rail was putting all the responsibility onto the contractors who finished their job on Sunday morning, who didn't want to know because it was fine when they left it!
