Tried to buy tickets today at Bath Spa station for travel tomorrow (3 Dec) to London and was informed that the offer finished today (for buying tickets and travelling).......
A good idea but appears to have been poorly managed by GwR staff.......

All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Worle to Truro Sat 30 Apr Advice sought
|

|
Plan is to leave Worle between 08:00 -08:45 aiming to arrive Truro 12:30ish (back on the 18:24)
From a quick canter thro the various times /ticket permutations I have worked out the hops from Taunton via Plymouth to Truro but the start of the journey is causing a bit more of challenge. I was wondering am I able to purchase an off peak Return from Worle to Taunton and travel via Bristol Temple Meads (to connect with the 09:18 service to Taunton) or is there some dreaded restriction in place which might prevent this?
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
TY

Journey by Journey / London to Swindon and Bristol / Interesting Journey - 09 Dec 11 - No 2

Travelled on the 11:30 from BRI» to London Paddington and found a number of the toilets out of action due to a lack of water. The train was very busy with lots of people heading into the capital, the Train Manager was very good putting posters up on the door of the loos informing all that they were out of order, but it meant queing to use the remaining working facilities
Question is with the increased capacity of seats/people travelling and the reduction in number of avialable toilets with the re-furbushed rolling stock how often does this happen?
I believe this train had originally formed the 05:20 service from Swansea to London and then the 08:30 Londan to BRI (before becoming the 11:30)

Thanks to all for the advice.
Indeed I will follow-up with FGW▸ .....
I might just need to do the jouney again this Saturday, if I dont get my tickets before I travel what is the 'sequence' that the conductor/train Manager needs to follow on his machine to to find the fare please?

Tried to but my 'Club 55' ticket on the train yesterday and found the whole experience pants!!!
Arrived at Worle Station in good time to purchase ticket from the automated machine to find that the menu didn't include this option.
The 2 carriage service to BTM▸ duly arrived, however the conductor was overwhelmed with the number of travellers heading into Bristol (standing from Yatton!). On arrival at BTM no one was positioned at the usual point by the exit barriers selling tickets and there were the customary long line of customers waiting to purchase or picking up tickets in the ticket hall area.
Boarded the service to London and decided to sit in carriage A asuming that this would be where the TM‡ would start checking tickets etc, uneventful journey until we left Chippenham when the TM did came along, I explained that I wished to purchase a Club 55 return between Worle and London Paddington after a few minutes trying to find the ticket on their machine I was told that they couldn't sell me one as the fare wasn't programmed in and that I could purchase a full cost ticket at ^59 and on arrival at Paddington I could seek a refund. I politely said no as it wasn't my fault that the ticket machine couldn't provide the ticket I required, I also said that I would be happy to pay on arrival in London as I was travelling back later in the day and that this ticket was the cheapest option for both the outward and return journey.
The TM agreed to go and find out more info (!), they returned a couple of minutes later and announced that I had 2 options, buy the ^59 ticket and seek a refund or get off the train at Swindon and purchase the required ticket.... Not wishing to hold-up the train by engaging in a conversation with an individual who was clearly not going to budge on their 2 options I left the train at Swindon, went downstarirs and then had to engage with the station barrier staff as to why I didn't have a ticket (they mentioned I might have to pay a penalty fare!!), before I was allowed to go to the ticket office to purchase a ticket to allow me to continue my journey. By the time all this had been sorted I was now running about 25 minutes late which meant that I missed meeting up with friends in London to continue our journey out to the delights of Billericay.
Bottom line - if FGW▸ are going to run this sort of promotion, provide the means to deliver the tickets from portable ticket machines.....
Rant over

All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Ticket Machine Clock
|

Strange title I know but......
I had a few minutes to wait for my train the other day at Worle and noticed (09:15) the machine was still offering the standard day return price of ^10.40 for travel to FAW. Having purchased my ticket for this journey from Hyden in the Green box 5 minutes earlier at ^5.90 (the 09:17 (?) is the first train where an off-peak ticket towards Bristol can be purchased).
Question i pose is what margin of time does the clock on the ticket machine work to before it switches to the correct price band; I certainly won't buy a ticket from the machine should the Green Box be unmanned if the price isn't right!!!

Chaps,
Grateful for all the advice re the new ticket machine.
Being a fairly regular rail traveller 6 days a week I was quite looking forward to collecting my pre-ordered tickets from the new machine on a Saturday, oh well just have to relie on the post or break of journey during the week to collect them from an enabled machine.
I will be placing a new post shortly in the Fares Fare folder, having studied the fares on offer on the machine there may be a problem,,,,,

Thanks for your updates, Worle Wonder. I'll take that matter up with the 'official channels', first thing on Monday morning. Cross from Nailsea. The machine is now operational..... However having spent a few minutes 'pushing buttons' it is not immediately obvious how you can collect pre-ordered (Internet) tickets as the menu does not include an option to key-in your booking reference number.... (or am I missing something?)
