1  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: First to raise money through rights issue?? on: May 20, 2013, 22:32:02
All areas of the business are profit making albeit small at the moment, anyone suggesting insolvency or dft waiting etc is nuts, the company can service its debt and intends to spend ^1.5 billion across all areas of the business over the next four years, i some how think the First group haters are hoping their demise is near but i think not.
2  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Devon - Central, North and South / Re: Avocet Line - Exeter to Exmouth - incidents and events; services, stock and related improvements on: May 02, 2013, 17:18:44
Considering that Exmouth WILL be developed in the near future I can't see the logic of not bringing platform 2 back there, also NR» (Network Rail - home page) should press on with plans to double the line from Exmouth junction to Digby as a priority, the land is there for them to use, a second platform at Exmouth is the cheapest alternative at present to get things moving to a 20 minute service.
3  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom / Re: Station Usage Figures for 2011/12 on: April 08, 2013, 01:16:01
Industryinsider, you seem to have left out stations E-I on your first tables and thus leaving some stations out on your next set of tables.
4  Journey by Journey / London to Swindon and Bristol / Re: Dispatch Staff on: February 08, 2013, 18:36:23

5  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: New Freight Flows? on: October 03, 2012, 15:11:16
Tesco having freight delivered to riverside yard, 2 roads for Tesco, 2 for Freightliner, 2 for hansons. Hackney yard taking over Tauntons yard uses.
6  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom / Re: FirstGroup win InterCity West Coast Franchise on: August 25, 2012, 21:19:30
Louise Ellman (Chair, Transport Select Committee) just been on BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) News she said "The Secretary of State has confirmed to me that she is not prepared to delay the signing of the contract". The reporter also said "The Government says the decision was entirely fair, and it is not a matter that rank and file MPs (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) can interfere with".

7  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Labour slams FGW on: August 16, 2012, 21:19:35
Why would they commit to a further 3 years when they were short sold ideas from the dft like IEP (Intercity Express Program / Project. This will offer more capacity on routes, save money, give a consistent and safe service and meet customer requirements. Intended to replace HSTs.) etc.
8  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Local stations in the West to be axed? on: August 02, 2012, 09:18:07
The report itself is poor at that, using the headline stations to close altogether, im not aware of any stations that have less than 2 stops so this is not relevant at all, also the ITT (Invitation to Tender) states that the new franchisee must assume ticket office hours will remain as they are until they seek permission from dft for reductions. So this is devon is wrong again.
9  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Reading barriers and break of journey on: July 30, 2012, 19:19:10
Im merely pointing out that it can be done anytime.
10  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Devon - Central, North and South / Re: Tarka Line - Exeter to Barnstaple - services, passenger numbers, carriages, engineering works, incidents and events on: July 25, 2012, 23:50:13
Until the diesel cascade starts no improvements are planned, there is simply nothing around to strengthen the services
11  All across the Great Western territory / Looking forward - the next 5, 10 and 20 years / Re: Intercity Express Programme (IEP) - ongoing discussion on: July 25, 2012, 23:40:28
The new franchisee will have a say on plans on seating, i remember seeing plans a while ago for the provision of kitchens on the 9 cars.
12  All across the Great Western territory / Looking forward - the next 5, 10 and 20 years / Re: Paddington - Penzance potential service cuts on: July 18, 2012, 14:50:13
To be fair to FGW (First Great Western) they have gone over and beyond on most services they offer compared to what the dft specify
13  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Reading barriers and break of journey on: July 18, 2012, 14:47:00
barriers need not be out of service to upload a new software.
14  All across the Great Western territory / Looking forward - the next 5, 10 and 20 years / Paddington - Penzance potential service cuts on: July 17, 2012, 15:25:31
Not looking good for cornwall intercity links. Dft possible 6 services specified a day in new franchise.
