1  All across the Great Western territory / Introductions and chat / Re: East-West rail campaign on: August 26, 2007, 18:13:41
A big thank you to all of those who signed my petition calling for government support for the proposed East-West rail line. It now has nearly 500 signatures which should mean that we get some sort of response from the Government. It closes tomorrow (August 27th) so if you know of anyone who has yet to sign it, point them in the direction of http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/East-West-rail/

Thanks again for your support and here's hoping for a positive response.

I have been told that there have been some compatibility problems with the east-west passengers' website. Apologies for that, as you can probably tell, website building is not one of my major strengths. It seems to work best with firefox, but for those of you who just want to sign the petition, the direct address for that site is http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/East-West-rail/

Thanks for all you support so far.

I completely agree with the starting point issue, though I would be tempted to go even further. A through route from the south-west/south-Wales to East Anglia would be a much needed addition to the cross-country routes.

Apologies for raising a non-firstgreatwestern story, but I just wanted to let you all know about a campaign that has been launched to raise support for the opening of the an east-west rail link between Oxford and East Anglia. The website for the campaign is based at www.eastwestpassengers.8m.com. The site is a bit basic but contains all the info and links to the all important petition on the downing street website.

Thanks for reading and I hope you can support the campaign.
