1  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Problems on two Cornish Branches - 19 May 19 on: May 28, 2019, 16:36:03
According to a post on a 'gen' group that I am on, it was a Paddington to Penzance service that was heavily delayed by the aforementioned trespass incident [believed to have been between Paddington & Reading ,not 100% sure on the location], with the Newquay to Paddington service terminated at Plymouth with the IET (Intercity Express Train) unit [800308?] from that service used to restart the Penzance bound service from Plymouth.

3  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Ticket checks at Taunton/Taunton gatelines on: December 16, 2012, 17:33:51
The gatelines are in place, and, according to a member of staff at the ticket office go into operation from this coming friday, 21 December.

2 Photos of the ticket office gateline below (apologies for the poor quality photos, taken on my phone):

I didn't have time to go & see the down side gateline, will hope to over the next few days.

4  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom / Re: Axing British Rail ^was a big mistake^ on: February 14, 2011, 18:39:48
Putting public transport into doesn't work, because the desire of the management of private companies for profit.

It is virtually impossible to run a reliable public transport system for profit because the cost ratio (incoming/outgoing) is such that unless you hike fares and/or reduce expenditure makes it unfeasible to do so.
5  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Re: What was up with BTM to Parkway yesterday? on: February 14, 2011, 18:15:17
Cable theft in the Gloucester area.
Car on the line near Totnes (handbrake failure to blame).
Overrunning engineering works in the Westbury area.

Yes, it does seem a bit pointless spending money doing up the Bus station there when a lot of the services that use it seem likely for the chop.
7  Journey by Journey / Portsmouth to Cardiff / Re: Arrest after CCTV of bike thrown on live rail - 7 January 2011 on: February 14, 2011, 17:48:05
Absolute maniac.

Video on the Daily Echo website
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/video/video/108184/

Looks like a FGW (First Great Western) 158 that passes after the bike is thrown

If you look at the time at the bottom right of the picture the bike is thown onto the track approx 17:57:45 and the DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) passes at about 18:00:30-18:00:45, around 3 mins later.
8  Sideshoots - associated subjects / The Lighter Side / Re: Most Expensive Fare on: February 14, 2011, 17:34:05
Somewhat concerned at the first class fare offered whilst trying to get from Brentwood to lakeside by train (many thanks to Graham for explaining how to post jpgs).

No FC(resolve) available for any part of that journey, hence the false FC fare.

Yes, about one mile west of Norton Fitzwarren
