I am unable to find a cheaper standard season which includes Reading ^Pad using an alternative ^originating^ station.
However while searching I uncovered another anomaly.
Bramley has a 3960 fare to London, must travel via Basingstoke.
A Bramley-Waterloo commuter would save by buying a 3800 Basingstoke to London terminals valid any route.

From Jn 1st class annual season Reading to Paddington is a staggering ^8232 or 8948 with Zones 1-6.
A 1st class season from Overton (Hants) to London Terminals is ^6480 or 7564 with Zones 1-6. This ticket, although obviously intended for commuters to Waterloo is available via Reading to Paddington as it meets the condition that ^Travel is allowed by any route option shown by the Journey Planner where the journey can be made using only one ticket^.
The usual season ticket condition applies permitting use at ALL intermediate stations so a savvy Reading commuter can make a big saving.
 
Unfortunately there is no standard class saving.
