If you have a reservation and don't get a seat (either the reserved seat or another one) FGW (First Great Western)'s passenger charter says they will refund the full cost of the single journey.

Its not an oxymoron - the customers are excellent.

A typical letter from FGW (First Great Western) customer services gives the following definitions -

Reliability is the number of scheduled Monday to Friday trains that actually run. Punctuality is the number of Monday to Friday peak trains that arrive at their destination on time (which means within a set number of minutes of the scheduled time).

Those 2nd class carriage plans seem to have a lot more tables than the real thing.....

Do these refurbished toilets have retainment tanks?
5  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Changes To FGW Cycling Policy on: February 06, 2008, 23:18:59
As a cyclist with an unscheduled 15 minutes to spend on Bristol Temple Meads station, I was drawn to actually read FGW (First Great Western)'s poster regarding cycles on trains. What a joy it is.

Particularly amusing is paragraph 3 which I quote exactly for you
"If you are travelling to or from any station not shown in the above list, please load your cycle in Coach A as normal."

Now the above list is a list of short platform stations.
So any station not shown is a long platform station.
So if I go from, say, BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI))(long platform) to anywhere I should put the bike in coach A??? Huh

How can they make something so simple into something so complicated, and then get it wrong?
Can you imagine being a foreign visitor, struggling with english as a second language, trying to understand this gibberish?

To top it all they then have the cheek to blame cyclists for delays in loading bikes onto trains!

According to the ATOC» (Association of Train Operating Companies See - here) website, if a train misses out any stops it counts as late.

"The PPM(resolve) measures the performance of every individual passenger train against the daily timetable. Where a train fails to run its entire planned route calling at all timetabled stations it counts as late. Cancelled trains are also counted as late."
