Is it coincidence that after all the complaining we've been doing to First Great Western, Arriva Cross Country have started to advertise Didcot Parkway as a new station call? Maybe it's a trial run for something more long term?
The proposals are that Sundays, the services would run from Birminigham etc, to Oxford, terminating at Reading. Then a service would START at Didcot Parkway, calling at Reading, thence to either Southampton, Bournemouth or twice a day to Brighton. In the reverse, Bournemouth trains would TERMINATE trains at Didcot Parkway. This comes into effect in March, I'm not sure for how long for, but it doesn't seem to be for engineers work, but for regular travel. Now this long distance cross country operator who want small journey times, have identified Didcot as a hidden gem as u will. So why does the station's parent company insist on cutting back on services? Or just making a complete c#ck#p with everything?
Now yes, the trains and and stations look pretty, but thats no use to me if theres tailbacks of trains. Can we not hold a coup? Take over ourselves? Have a community run TOC▸ ? take it in turns daily, or plan a timetable ourselves? I'm well aware of EWS▸ the local freigth depot fuming at the stupidness of the apparant lack of logic. they are haemorrageing money as they are missing there allocated slots. Sorry for the large blog, but i've been living across the road from the station for at 14 years now and i needed a good rant. So point me in right direction of usiing this energy constructively?
