Yeah, as we speak i am installing Windows into Parallels to that i can run all my windows programs and games. Hopefully this time round i've set up everything properly so that there is no lag and hopefully nothing dies on me again like it has in the past Smiley

Hey guys it's me again, I've not posted in hear for god only knows how long.... Anyway i digress. I currently own a 13" MacBook Pro and an iPhone 4S but have also considered getting an iPad a few times, I very quickly abandoned the idea one being cost and two not really knowing what I would actually use it for as I currently do everything on either my MacBook Pro or my iPhone depending on which one I have handy on me a the time.

I always have my iPhone me as that is my Primary mode of communication but have resently been carrying my laptop pretty much everywhere I go as it's usefull to have if I am going out and I come across a time where I will be sat down for extended ammounts of time, either in a coffee shop or at the Cinema when i am waiting to or the movie I want to see to start.

Depending on what i want to do I will either boot my laptop into Mac OS (Ordnance Survey) X or Windows, I don't use the windows partition much but have it there because there is one particular program I use all the time which is not yet available on Mac OS X. This program is called mIRC and is a chat client which I use to connect to an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) Service which I am a moderator on.

I can moderate from the Mac OS X Client but this is harder because I cannot use the customised script I wrote which has preset Kick/Ban/Warn messages as well as other useful if formation such as the information the bots would most if a certain phrase was said like "what is monitor"

Anyway I think I have gone on for long enough so I will shut up now and try to go to sleep because as I write this it is 3:50am :/

What amazes me about thetrout is I can randomly point at a train from a far distance and say what train is that, and he'll actually be able to answer. I haven't yet been able to trip him up Smiley

this is true, i suppose i could have got back on the train and then spent the time between Chippenham - Swindon looking for it and then got off at Swindon and then gone back to Chippenham... yes i absolutly agree it was my fault, after all i was the one who put the bag down on the floor and clearly was't paying any attention when i got off the train.

and yeah, the staff aren't all that bad, i've only come across one member of FGW (First Great Western) staff that i abolulty hate now which is linked to a completely different incident commuting to Chippenham which couldn't have really been my fault convidering the circumstances. i generally find the staff to be very friendly and helpful when i need help with something.  Smiley

i am also disabled and find train travel to be quite scary and sometimes difficult, so i find nice helpful members of staff to be a releaf as i do become quite stressed if i am in unfamiliar surroundings or know where i need to go but can't work it out.

i bet it was nothing more than a BB Gun which the little scrote was carrying on him and probably occasionally wielding/pointing at people to try and scary them or stir up a massive discrupton to the service.

does anyone here know what the random railing and the foot path is for that now runs down the middle section beween the two tracks at Bath Spa station are for? i saw them putting it all in and even to this day i still can't work out what the railing and the footpath is for. thetrout as a theory as to what it's for but i was wondering if anyone knew any different.
9  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Re: Bath Spa train passengers to be screened for knives (BBC News 23/09/2011) on: October 21, 2011, 02:44:24
i have only ever seen Station staff i think, holding airport style metal detector wands once maybe a few other times to before in all the time i have been travelling to Bath. annoyingly enough that day they had them to hand i had left a pocket knife in my pocket that i had been using to cut cable ties and generally service a machine i was working, on which i had forgotten to take out of my pocket and leave behind prior to my mad dash to the train station to meet thetrout in Bath.

fortunatly enough for me although they were standing at the stop of the stairs looking very scary armed with the wands it didn't look like they were wanding people, so i was able to slip though without being scanned. had they have decided to scan people as they were walking down the stairs i would have been screwed and then probably had to have delt with a police confrontation which never goes down well for me Sad
10  All across the Great Western territory / Introductions and chat / Lost Property - never recovered :( on: October 21, 2011, 02:02:02
i've only ever lost something on a First Great Western Train once in my entire life, sadly said lost bag was not recovered which caused me much pain and stress because it contained all my college course work in it which i needed, i was actually commuting to college that day and had everything in the bag that i needed. (nothing valuable, thank god!)

i put the bag at my feet thinking that when i got up i would feel it there and pick it up when i got off the train, somehow i managed to get up and get off the train without picking up my bag. it was only when i got off the train that i discovered that i had not picked up my bag that i started to panic, which caused me to completly forget which coach and seat i was sat in.

with the train literally seconds from departing Chippenham station i literally had 30 seconds or so to try and calm down and remember which coach and seat i was sat in so that i could get back on the train and get my bag and get off before all the doors where closed and locked trapping me on a train bound for London Paddington now without a ticket valid for the rest of the journey.

unable to calm down and think fast enough i was not able to get back on the train to collect the lost bag, so i went to the nearest available member of staff and told them what had happened and asked them what i needed to do to get my bag back.

i was told to ring two lost property numbers, unfortunatly they weren't very helpful with recovering my bag and at one point gave out false information which resulted in me paying for a return fair to Swindon which i was told my bag would be. when i got there this was unforunatly not the case and at this point i was quite cross. (worth a try eh)

i rang the number again and explained the situation to the person on the end, baring in mind i have now probably rang these two numbers like 20+ times trying to get my bag back. one of the times i was told that the bag wold be at London Paddington Lost and found, so i rang their number serveral times to be told that someone was going to go and look for my lost bag and then call me back, that of course never happened and i was certainly not prepaired to pay for a fair to London in case the same thing happened to me that happened when i went to Swindon lost and found.

many calls were made to the numbers i was given but no one seemed to know where it went, so i can only assume that someone either saw me leave without my bag and then nicked it or saw that it had been left un-attended and then pinched it someway down the line after i had gotten off the train and Chippenham station.

since this happened to me i am now more careful about where i put my bag down when i get on public transport, if i can i will try to put the bag down on the seat next to me if it's empty. obviously i will move my bag if someone wishes to take the seat in which case i will probably but the bag on my lap where i definitely can't loose it. god help me if i do manage that somehow Cheesy

sorry for typing so much, but i'm sure i'm not the only person who has lost baggage on a train and not been able to get it back. i know this isn't entirely First Great Westerns fault that they couldn't get it back, it's all down to if a member of staff spots the bag and intercepts it before another passenger does Cheesy

i was introduced to the First Great Western Coffee shop by a regular poster here who most have you may know by the handle "thetrout". he is my best friend who is also a train enthusiast who has been teaching me stuff about trains on long train journeys which i find fascinating. i am learning new stuff about trains all the time thanks to thetrout Cheesy

i've finally given up on Facebook... i used to use it all the time up until the point were the people i'm friends with at the moment stopped posting as frequently or were posting anything worth reading. for this reason i have now moved over to Twitter where i am now so much more active, as there is always tons going on there and so much interesting things being talked about/trending. over all i am beggining to love Twitter more than Facebook.  Grin
13  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Tickets & Railcards: problems with fading ink/magnetic strips (merged topic, ongoing discussion) on: July 08, 2011, 19:12:42
i think this is an awesome idea, i think the current tickets are quite boring and not really that interesting to look at, i would be really interested to see what the new tickets would look like if they actually decided to re-design the tickets. Cheesy
14  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Fare dodging. on: July 08, 2011, 19:08:51
i have traveled a few times on the train without a ticket now, but this is because of the fact that the station where i live is not always open, if this is the case i will get on the train and wait for the guard on the train to do ticket checks and then i will buy a ticket if nobody comes along and does the ticket checks then i buy the ticket from the guards or the ticket office at the destination station.

i lost a bag once commuting to college in Chippenham, i was never reunited with my bag despite all the calls to the two different First Great Western Lost Property Lines i was given...it's a good thing there was nothing valuable in there otherwise i would have got back on the train and stayed there until i found the bag! but it was still annoying to have lost the bag as it did set me back several months in my course as it had all my college work in it Cry
