1  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Are Day Returns limited to residents of the town from where they're booked? on: February 13, 2008, 09:06:41
Just to update on this topic:- The conductor on the 07:03 Trowbridge to Cardiff this morning was asking people with tickets from Melksham if they were residents.  He told someone that the revenue office had instructed him to because of falling revenues at other stations.

Hi Sion

I first reported it to the ticket collector on the train, must have been mid May who said he would report it to the "authorities".  I again mentioned it to the ticket collector on the 18th June who said "it had probably been reported".  I then rang  the 0800 number when the sign about checking the facilities regularly appeared and was told they had "no nowledge of a problem" even though I knew others had reported it too.

Good luck!!!

That will explaine why there was a man on the platform when I went to collect my car at about 19:40 last night.  Now I feel guilty for not asking him if he was OK, he couldn't have got any information from the information point that still isn't working.

Graham.

The long suffering platform staff at Chippenham arranged a taxi for me and another man who travels from Reading.

Good luck with the meeting tonight.

Not an impressive service!

The 17:30 from Paddington which is the advertised conection for the 18:42 from Swindon to Westbury via Melsham was delayed.  Instead of delaying the 18:42 by a few mins at Swindon, thus ensuring that the people on the delayed 17:30 made their conection, the 18:42 was let out of Swindon just in front of the 17:30 from Paddington.  Therefore, delaying even further the train full of passengers as it followed the slower train to Chippenham and meaning that those wanting to connect to the Westbury service missed their conection.

A really good example of how to run a service.  Especially, given all the assurances we were given that once FGW (First Great Western) took over the Wessex Franchise this wouldn't happen

Out of interest I asked at the customer services at Paddington last night, as boarding for the 17:30 was delayed.  I was told that "as long as you've got a through ticket it will be valid on the next available service".  Perhaps I should get it in writing?
7  Journey by Journey / TransWilts line / 8 March on: March 08, 2007, 15:03:16
The 07:17 from Melksham this morning was late by about 10 mins.  The information point didn't tell us though.. it just said everything was OK till 07:17 and then there is no train due.....

The lateness made me miss my conection at Swindon which I had a reserved (only valid on this service) ticket.  They didn't check the tickets, pity cus I was looking forward to the discussion beginning "This ticket isn't valid on this train"

8  Journey by Journey / TransWilts line / Early Start 20 Feb on: February 20, 2007, 13:44:47
The 07:17 from Melksham left 3 mins early this morning.  Good job me and the 5 or 6 other passangers who got on didn't turn up just in time - especially as we've been used to it being late!

Just remember - every journeys an adventure!!!

Yep, a good day all through.  The 18:59 left Chippenham only the usual 3 mins late.

Well a good start to valentines day!  The 07:17 from Melksham turned up and was on time.  I think I need treatment for shock!
11  Journey by Journey / TransWilts line / Re: Trans Wilts "No Reports" on: February 09, 2007, 11:33:04
Yesterday was a good day.

As I posted yesterday, the morning train turned up only a few mins late and last night, for the first time in my experiance, the 18:58 was on time at Chippenham.  I've noted it in my diary!!!

I don't think they're that clever!
13  Journey by Journey / TransWilts line / Re: Trans Wilts "No Reports" on: February 08, 2007, 13:32:03
Well I'm shocked.  The 18:58 from Chippenham ran last night and was only its usual 4 mins late and the 07:17 ran this morning again only a few mins late.  (Information point rang out unanswered so not much use).  Things are looking up??
14  Journey by Journey / TransWilts line / Re: Trans Wilts "No Reports" on: February 07, 2007, 13:22:43
The 07:17 from Melksham ran this morning.  It was late.  The information point on the platform anounced that it was running until 07:17.  Then there was no reply when you pressed the button, it just rang out for ages.  Then once it had finally stopped ringing and we pressed the button again we got a message saying there wasn't a train for 99 mins.  We rang National Rail Enquires and were told that the train was running 9 mins late.  When it arrived the conductor told us that FGW (First Great Western) hadn't told the conductor who was supposed to working the service that he/she was.  The conductor who was working the service as a last minute stand in.  The lack of information from the information point is a real drag.
