Soon to have direct trains to Salisbury on Sundays, courtesy of SWR» (South Western Railway - about)  Wink

I have moved a follow up on this thread to the moderator's area as I was concerened. I don't know if that was the right thing to do, or over-reaction; call it a precaution and I'm asking my fellow moderators to give their views.
You can have a member’s view.
I don’t feel it would be a right thing to do, as most information on this case is internal and sensitive.
If this was a railway workers’ forum, I’d be happy to release a bit more information on this; as this is public, I don’t feel it would be appropriate to.
3  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Devon - Central, North and South / Re: Man dies at Stoke Canon level crossing and related incidents - 28 Mar 2019 on: March 29, 2019, 01:41:31
I have returned to this forum after a lengthy break, nice to still see everyone’s still here.
My condolences go out to the family of the deceased, the driver and on-board crew, as well as the team at Exeter and all the MOM (Mobile Operations Manager)’s, LOM’s and many other people who were involved in this.

I happen to know the guy involved in this, as well as the events of today, so I’m not going to come in here and join the speculation, nor will I identify the gentleman until he’s officially been identified.
But at first, that’s what I did too - speculated - as it’s natural human inquisitiveness to speculate and theorise.
But I was briefed on the situation, and realisation hit, and that’s what I want to echo here, is that as decent humans we’re all in this together. Don’t forget that.
Feel free to contact me if anyone needs someone to talk to.
4  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Thames Valley infrastructure problems causing disruption elsewhere - 2018 on: June 27, 2018, 13:47:39
Axle counters (RD)VY & (RD)WB on the down relief line at Moreton Cutting are showing failed after passage of 4V31, 0753 London Gateway Freightliner to Bristol Freightliner.
This holds SB903 and SB847 at danger.
Reset has been unsuccessful.

(Due to an axle counter failure at Moreton Cutting the line is affected.)

Impact:
Train services may be delayed.

This incident will continue until further notice.

Moreton Cutting has been horrendous this week, practically continous failures there!
5  Journey by Journey / Heart of Wessex / Re: Problems on the Heart of Wessex line, 25 April 2018 on: April 25, 2018, 18:16:39
2V90 11:10 Weymouth to Gloucester will no longer call at:
Trowbridge
Bradford-On-Avon
Avoncliff
Freshford
Oldfield Park
and
Keynsham
This is due to a late running train being infront of this one.

And for the extra double whammy...
Toilet facilities are not available.
Disabled toilet facilities are not available.

Probably due to the late running train making the same stops anyway - might be worth a look back later.

By the way - although Bradford-on-Avon is in the Cotswolds, this service is on the Heart of Wessex line rather than either the North or South Cotswold line ... may be worth a move tonight to that part of the forum.
I definitely was not paying attention when I typed that!
If someone could move it, that would be great!

7  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 24, 2018, 17:59:35
Another amendment to add to the record!

1P40 17:38 Moreton-in-Marsh to London Paddington due 19:07 will be started from Oxford.
It will no longer call at Moreton-in-Marsh.
This is due to a safety inspection of the track.

But let me introduce some good news, 1P42 17:26 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington is a 5 car IET (Intercity Express Train) (running with First Class at the rear, mind you!)  Grin
8  Journey by Journey / London to Kennet Valley / Re: No trains between Newbury and Bedwyn due to a dusting of snow on: March 24, 2018, 00:44:36
Is it my cynical view of life, or are we heading back to the situation where the original GWR (Great Western Railway) used to run its own buses?
Now what could we call a British company that ran buses and trains?
First Group Cheesy
9  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: IETs into passenger service from 16 Oct 2017 and subsequent performance issues on: January 30, 2018, 20:45:49
I saw 800204 go past me on Platform 6 today with its pan up and on electric.
