I work in the road haulage industry and know local hauliers are being paid well over the going rate to take clay from St Austell to Stoke.

Last Thursday the wife had to stand on the 15.27 from exeter st david's to barnstaple as far as eggesford, where I met her. There were several others standing as well,  it was a 143 though!

They accept debit cards, used mine couple of weeks ago. Was reasonably quick and painless, not for boss hgv ^17.20!

They are usually quite busy through to EXD» (Exeter St Davids - next trains) from Exmouth, but then you could probably live with putting 1 coach on with room to spare from EXD onwards.  Different story at other times (the last one out of EXD last night was full and standing with bikes too), so I think at the moment the set structure/schedule is just about right, even though it would seem to be a bit inconvenient for customers in terms of timings.  Summer Saturdays could be interesting though come some nice weather.

most weekend trains seem too busy for 1 coach, not sure about weekdays.
6  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Devon - Central, North and South / Re: Eggesford Station - services, facilities and incidents (merged topic, ongoing discussion) on: May 11, 2008, 15:20:32
North Devon Journal says journeys increased by 20% during first 3 months of 2008 and additional train being put on.
Julian Crow, FGW (First Great Western) general manager for the west of England said: "We are delighted to have been able to find the resourses to run this additional train and to meet the needs of passengers on this increasingly busy and important railway line. If growth continues at this rate, we will soon need even more trains on the line"

Noticed today the 12.40 from Barnstaple was 2x142 but rear unit locked with front one full and standing. Thought this problem had been sorted?
