1  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Sprinters replacing HSTs on Mondays in Cornwall on: October 25, 2010, 15:10:16
This morning Monday 25th All Sprinters allocated to Sprinter turns at Penzance including 2x150s on the 0600 Exeter and a full compiment of HSTs (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) at Long Rock, so all should have been ok barring any failures Roll Eyes
2  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: St Ives branch line - engineering work, closures, incidents (merged topics) on: October 25, 2010, 15:06:56
The 06.37 Penzance - St Ives and 07.00 St Ives - St Erth are most likely withdrawn owing to lack of use Undecided
3  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Engineering works lostwithiel - st austell : sunday 14 nov on: October 25, 2010, 15:03:32
As has been done on numerous occasions before, Single line working is put in place between Lostwithiel and Bodmin Parkway with trains working in the right direction from Lostwithiel to Bodmin and returning ''Wrong Road'' from Bodmin crossing back over at the set of points before the Level Crossing at Lostwithiel, all accompanied by a Pilotman.
Hope this helps Louis.
4  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Sprinters replacing HSTs on Mondays in Cornwall on: October 22, 2010, 15:22:25
I rather suspect Long Rock would have room owing to there being no Sleeper and no Voyagers in the locality due to the above mentioned blockade.

Voyager toilets are only emptied at Central Rivers up Burton way.

I have been told by Long Rock that the CET (Controlled Emission Toilet) equipment is used when requested by X Country to empty Voyager tanks
6  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Falmouth branch line - engineering work, closures, incidents (merged topics) on: August 29, 2010, 19:46:19
Class 67s are not passed for the Falmouth Branch due to the reasons mentioned above (axle loadings) in fact you will find that they are not cleared for most Cornish Branches.

Edit.. Freight wise I am told there is some work on the horizon hence the clearance and sleeper replacment in the sidings and run round loop.
7  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: St Erth Station - incidents, facilities, improvements and awards (merged topic) on: July 30, 2010, 15:48:04
Earthworks on the industrial site side I have been told are nothing to do with the Park and Ride.
The propsed site is on the other side of the station.
Cutbacks in spending have put this on the back burner.
This is only what I have been told, if anyone knows different maybee they could shed some light on it ??
8  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: gwinear road level crossing failure on: July 29, 2010, 18:13:48
There is nothing laid down as far as sounding the horn approaching Gwinear Road although some drivers may feel a bit happier doing this (noise abatememnt order pending no doubt from the local residents)

Coming from the Penzance direction there are ''W'' boards for trains but these are for Upper and Lower Trenowin (i think its spelt that way) crossings just before Gwinear Road.
9  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: gwinear road level crossing failure on: July 29, 2010, 15:16:57
Been a pain there for a while now a far as trains are concerend with the speed restriction  incase there are any lorries trying to get into the farm entrance and blocking the crossing.

I wonder if its a Network Rail smokescreen to get the lorries to use another route Wink

Hopefully this persistant problem with the barriers will get something done and the trains can get back to normal speed.

There again it could go on for a while whilst new barriers/parts are sourced, as I said it seems to be an ongoing problem with the barriers just lately.

Seems to be a regular occurance just lately, barriers keep failing in the down position, therefore stopping all road traffic Shocked
