From the Grantham Journal (http://www.granthamjournal.co.uk/news/train_driver_dies_after_collapse_1_3336581):

Quote
A train driver died after being found collapsed in his cab at a railway station in Surrey, British Transport Police (BTP) said.

The train failed to leave Weybridge station in Surrey as scheduled at 9.33am.

When a member of staff went to check on the driver, they discovered him collapsed in his cab. Police and paramedics attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death is being treated as sudden and unexplained and the circumstances leading up to it will be investigated.

A BTP spokesman said the train was not moving at the time. He said: "BTP officers were called to a platform at Weybridge railway station on Wednesday, December 14 following a report that a train driver had collapsed in the cab of a train.

"Surrey Police officers and paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident was reported to BTP at 10.34am. The man's death is currently being treated as unexplained and officers are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."

The train involved was a Weybridge to Waterloo service. The driver is believed to be 64 years old and a South West Trains employee.

The BTP spokesman said: "The man's death is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A South West Trains spokeswoman said: "Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time and we will do everything we can to support them." She added that "very minimal" delays were caused to rail services on the line.
