BRITISH TRANSPORT POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION FOLLOWING ASSAULT ON TRAIN CONDUCTOR - WORLE

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public^s help to identify two men they would like to speak to following an incident which took place on board a train at Worle station, North Somerset.

Officers have today released CCTV images of the men they believe will have information which can assist the investigation into the incident which took place on Saturday 5 November 2011.

PC Diane Cooper, investigating officer, said: ^The conductor on board the 1910hrs Weston-super-Mare to Bristol Parkway service was checking tickets and encountered two men, who had boarded the train at Weston-super-Mare, but did not have valid tickets. The conductor told the men they would have to either buy valid tickets or leave the train. The men became aggressive towards the conductor and a passenger who tried to intervene. One of the men punched the conductor in the face, before the pair dragged him off the train, knocking him to the floor at Worle station. The conductor managed to fend the men off and they then fled from station.

^Enquiries are ongoing and, after viewing CCTV, I would like to identify and speak to the two men in these photographs as I believe they will have information which can help police. I would ask anyone who recognises either man, or who knows their current whereabouts, to contact British Transport Police straight away.^
