DO YOU KNOW THIS MAN? BRITISH TRANSPORT POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION FOLLOWING INCIDENT ON TRAIN ^ WILTSHIRE

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public^s help to identify a man they would like to speak to following an incident which took place on board a train between Trowbridge and Westbury railway stations.

Officers have today released CCTV images of a man they believe will have information which can assist the investigation.

PC Leighton Rivers, of BTP, said: ^A male passenger on board the 0915hrs Bristol Temple Meads to Portsmouth Harbour service on Sunday 9 October had intended to alight at Trowbridge rail station but missed his stop.

^As the train was approaching the next stop, Westbury, the man pulled the emergency communications chord, causing the train to come to an emergency stop.

^Both the train conductor and driver went to investigate and they encountered a man who began shouting at them and became verbally abusive when informed he would need to change trains at Westbury in order to get back to Trowbridge.

^The passenger then forced his way into the driver^s cab, jumped out of the driver^s window and began making his way along the tracks back towards Trowbridge.^

Police were called and officers from BTP and Wiltshire Police attended the location. However, there was no trace of the man and enquiries are continuing to find the man involved.

PC Rivers added: ^After viewing CCTV from on board the train, I would like to identify and speak to the man in these photographs as I believe he will be able to assist police.

^I would ask anyone who knows the man^s identity, or his current whereabouts, to contact BTP straight away.^

Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident reference B4/WWA of 29/11/2011. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
