Title: Hello everyone
Post by: antoinog on November 29, 2011, 08:30:19
Hi everyone,

I'm another new arrival to this board. Having browsed it as a guest a few times over the last couple of months I thought I should sign up and start making use of the chance to communicate with fellow travellers/staff of FGW.

My name is Tony and I live in Newbury. I previously commuted for 4 years but then moved to London. After 7 or so years there I moved back to Newbury and have been rediscovering the delights of the daily commute between NBY and PAD for a year now. I'm an early bird (usually catch the 05.58).

Since starting to commute again, with the exception of the loss of the Thames Trains brand I haven't noticed much has changed to the service since 2000. One change for the worse I have noticed is when occasionally catching a later train home in the evening, all the post-20.30 trains now only go as far as RDG and require a change for the last leg to NBY. Previously these trains went direct to NBY, albeit stopping at a lot of places. Does anyone know why FGW decided to abandon these?

Looking forward to making your acquaintaces and sharing insights into travelling on FGW.
