Title: A new livery on the TransWilts Post by: grahame on November 25, 2011, 16:38:26 From last Saturday afternoon (Saturday is the only day of the week we have a train in daylight on the TransWilts in the winter) ... a new livery, and what look like preparations for a hard winter to come, or safety devices to deal with the large herds of buffalo that may be found beyong Broughton Gifford Halt!
(http://www.wellho.net/pix/iownot.jpg) I would love an opportunity to photograph regular scheduled passengers trains on other days of the week. Even if they look like this. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/iowdin.jpg) Where are those 142s going after Sundays's run ... did I see someone posting on one Northern board or other that "we don't want them back up here?" ;) Title: Re: A new livery on the TransWilts Post by: paul7575 on November 25, 2011, 16:54:47 Where are those 142s going after Sundays's run ... did I see someone posting on one Northern board or other that "we don't want them back up here?" ;) Definitely to Northern - whether people want them or not, all specified by the DfT (who don't control rolling stock movements of course)... I quite liked the individual 153's, out of interest what were the rest.
There has to be some scope for something other than the bland corporate First blue for regional areas surely. Title: Re: A new livery on the TransWilts Post by: inspector_blakey on November 30, 2011, 05:35:40 I suspect the Ginster's branding is only coming back if said pasty company foots the bill! 158 825 was the Cornish Nasty, wasn't it? I know I ended up travelling on it at least once, slightly incongruously in west Wales.
From what I recall the 153s were painted in different liveries promoting west country branch lines - pretty on the outside but an absolute disgrace on the inside. Give me a clean-and-tidy, up-together interior in FGW corporate livery any day... Edited to add... Turns out we've been here before, albeit nearly 2 years ago, and I am repeating myself almost word for word. At least I'm consistent ::) http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=6166.5 (http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=6166.5) Title: Re: A new livery on the TransWilts Post by: anthony215 on November 30, 2011, 10:56:51 I suspect the Ginster's branding is only coming back if said pasty company foots the bill! 158 825 was the Cornish Nasty, wasn't it?
